Dear Friends,
I am very happy to launch this website to introduce myself, and to give you a little insight into my personal qualifications for Judge of the Probate Court of Fayette County. With the retirement this year of Judge Stephenson and my eligibility to retire from 25 years in the Fulton County Probate Court, it seems an ideal time for me to bring my experience and enthusiasm for the job home, to the service of my own county.
During my 25 years in the Probate Court, I have served in virtually every supervisory- and management-level capacity. It was my good fortune to work most of those years at the hand of one of the most highly regarded probate judges in the entire nation in the Honorable Floyd Propst, former president of the National College of Probate Judges. On Judge Propst’s retirement some six years ago, I was appointed Judicial Hearing Officer by the current judge, Honorable Pinkie Toomer. I have served on the bench since that appointment, presiding over more than 500 Probate Court cases. As I am the only candidate to have such experience, I am uniquely qualified to serve the Probate Court and the people of Fayette County.
I have also experienced firsthand what a family goes through when a loved one dies or is incapacitated and the family find themselves involved in the Probate Court. I am very sensitive to the trauma that families often suffer as they grieve a loved one while going through a necessary court process they may not be prepared to face. I know that we cannot make everything better for an aggrieved family, but I am determined to run a court that will not, itself, become an inordinate part of the family’s burden.
Please consider carefully the role that the Fayette County Probate Court will inevitably play in the lives of you and others in years to come. I am listing links to other information that I hope will be of value and of interest to you. It will give you a brief overview of the court, some of the many functions of the court such as administrations, guardianships, firearms permits, marriage licenses, passports and many more. It is incumbent upon the judge that the court run efficiently, that ‘routine’ matters are handled expeditiously and as possible, and above all, that officers of the court are good stewards of the public trust and funds, and are courteously responsive to the public needs.
To this end, I am committed to faithfully serve the people of Fayette County. My husband, Charles, and our three children – all three Starr’s Mill graduates – believe that I am the most qualified and the best suited candidate for Probate Judge of Fayette County. We also believe that after your careful consideration, you will feel the same way.

Ann Jackson
